The Friends of the Guelph Public Library presents “Nature in Focus: Backyard Biodiversity” with Lisa Marie Connor, a grassroots photographer who captures the beauty and essence of the landscapes and wildlife around us. This program is in celebration of Pollinator Week and Nature Photography Day!

Through a curated selection of her landscape, wildlife, plant and insect photos, Lisa Connor will explore her methods, materials and motivations. With her Upper Mohawk Nation and mixed settler roots, Lisa’s photography isn’t just about collecting images but also experiences, reminding us how alive our world is and of our responsibility to protect it.

Bio:
Lisa Connor is an Indigenous wildlife and macro photographer based in Hamilton who is passionate about capturing the beauty and spirit of the creatures that surround her. Lisa is Upper Mohawk from Six Nations of the Grand River with mixed settler roots, and her deep connection to the land is reflected throughout her work.

For nearly a decade, she has documented the raw beauty of the natural world, often exploring local conservation areas alongside her husband and two young sons, camera in hand. Her photography has been featured in Canadian Geographic and Wild Planet Photo Magazine, and she is a proud member of the Canadian Conservation Collective, supporting environmental initiatives through photography auctions.

Through her work, Lisa aims to celebrate and help protect the rich biodiversity of southern Ontario while reminding others that nature’s most extraordinary moments are often found close to home.
